(West Caldwell and Newark, NJ - September 7, 2017) We are pleased to announce that our COO and Managing Partner, Bill Ruggles, who is also an Adjunct Professor, will be offering, NOT one but TWO more non-credit, continuing education courses (BUSN 726) for those interested in pursuing Project Management Certification at Essex County College this Fall: a 3-hour Evening offering on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the West Caldwell Campus and a 6-hour offering on Saturdays at the Newark Campus.
This will be the LAST time he will teach from the 5th Edition of the PMBOK Guide since the 6th Edition was released (along with the Agile Practice Guide) by PMI on September 6th. As such, both the PMP and CAPM Certification Exams will be changing in 2018 to be aligned with the new edition: 1st Quarter for the PMP Certification Exam and 2nd Quarter for the CAPM Exam. Therefore, the Spring, 2018 Semester offerings of BUSN 726 will be targeted on that new content.
This Evening course will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 9:00 pm starting on Tuesday, September 12th and running 17 consecutive, 3-hour sessions until Tuesday, November 11th.
The Saturday course will meet from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm starting on Saturday, October 7th and running eight 6-hour sessions (skipping November 25th for Thanksgiving) and one 3-hour session until Saturday, December 9th.
Have you worked on projects, either in the private or public sectors, for the past 2+ years and would you like to demonstrate your commitment to this fast-growing profession, improve your level of mastery of project management principles, processes and best practices, and become qualified to manage more challenging projects? Do you live in either Essex, Morris, Passaic or Bergen Counties in New Jersey?
If so, then this 17-session, 51-hour, Instructor-led course (BUSN 726) may be ideal for you! Why? Because…
It provides you with a slow-paced yet comprehensive overview of the contents of the 5th Edition of The Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) to help you prepare yourself to take either of the computer-based Certification Exams offered by the Project Management Institute: either as an entry-level Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) or as a more-advanced Project Management Professional (PMP®).
All participants should use this workshop as the final preparation for taking the examination before the end of December, 2017!
This course also has a primary and a secondary goal:
The primary goal is to prepare participants to successfully complete the examination required for earning the Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certifications, respectively. For those who attend the entire course, it exceeds the requirements for the 35 hours or 21 hours, respectively, of project management-related education required for registering for either exam.
The secondary goal is to give participants a rapid, in-depth exposure to the 47 project management processes defined by the 5th edition of the PMBOK® Guide.
Because this 17-session, 51-hour evening course (3-hour sessions) is intended to prepare you to successfully take a Certification exam, the flow of the course is directed toward that end. At the close of every module, there will be a quiz that tests your retention of the materials in that module. In the next-to-the-last session, you will take a 150- or 200-question Final Practice Exam to test your readiness to take the actual CAPM® or PMP® exam, respectively, and those questions are similar in difficulty to the actual exam questions. We will review your results during the last session so that you will know which Knowledge Areas or Process Groups you may still need to study before taking the actual Certification Exam.
You are not required to share your results on either the quizzes or the Final Practice Exam or achieve a particular score in order to get “credit” for this course. The quizzes and the FPE are there to help you learn, periodically help you assess your progress, and focus any remaining study efforts.
Registrants for this course must possess, AT LEAST a High School Diploma. Then, those wishing to take the PMP Certification Exam ONLY must also possess EITHER:
- 7,500 hours of project management-related experience over the past 5-8 years; OR,
- A Bachelor's degree plus 4,500 hours of project management-related experience over the past 3-8 years.
